40 min
Ingredients
4 persons
- 1tbsp butter (for toasting donuts)
- 8strips crispy bacon
- 4pc glazed donuts (halved, used as top and bottom “buns”)
- 4slice Grandor Edam 40+Red Wax Ball
- 4patty Hamburger Grain-Fed
- 20ml Hot sauce or aioli drizzle
- 20g Pickles (to cut richness)
Preparation
The Luther Burger is pure indulgence with a story to match. Named after R&B legend Luther Vandross, who was rumored to have loved this outrageous creation, the burger swaps out traditional buns for sweet glazed donuts. The result is a daring mix of sticky sweetness and savory richness: juicy beef patties layered with melted cheese and crispy bacon, all tucked between warm, caramelized donuts. Equal parts comfort food and conversation starter, it’s a burger that’s impossible to forget.
Instructions:
| 1) |
Cook the bacon • Fry or oven-bake bacon until crisp. Set aside on paper towels. |
| 2) |
Cook the burgers
• Grill or pan-sear burgers over medium-high heat until cooked through. • In the last minute, place a slice of cheese on each patty, cover, and let melt. |
| 3) |
Prepare the “buns”
• Slice each glazed donut in half horizontally. • Lightly butter the cut sides and toast in a skillet for 1–2 minutes until golden and slightly caramelized. |
| 4) |
Assemble the Luther Burgers • Place a donut half on the plate as the base. • Add the cheesy burger patty, then 2 strips of crispy bacon. • Optionally add pickles or a drizzle of hot sauce/aioli. • Top with the second donut half, glaze side out. |
