Halloween dinner doesn't have to be complicated to be memorable.
Our Bloody Finger Hotdog Set brings together six of our butcher-made Frankfurter sausages and six soft, golden hotdog buns for a deliciously spooky dinner at home.
The fun begins with a few simple cuts. Carve a small fingernail into one end of each sausage, add a few shallow lines for the knuckles, and an ordinary hotdog suddenly looks remarkably like a finger.
Gently reheat the sausages in a frying pan, tuck them into warm buns and add a generous helping of tomato ketchup. Let some spill naturally over the edges for a suitably bloody Halloween finishing touch.
Beneath the playful presentation is everything a good hotdog should be: a flavourful butcher-made sausage, soft bread and a generous helping of your favourite sauce.
Six hotdogs, a little creativity and a Halloween dinner the whole family can enjoy making together.
Inside the Set
Each Bloody Finger Hotdog Set includes:
6 Butcher-Made Frankfurter Sausages
Prepared by Swiss Butchery with a savoury,
well-seasoned flavour and satisfying texture.
Our Frankfurters are fully cooked and only
need gentle reheating before serving.
Their natural shape makes them ideal
for creating Halloween fingers.
6 Soft Hotdog Buns
Soft, golden buns with a delicate crumb
and a lightly buttery character.
Delicious when gently warmed,
with just enough structure to hold
the sausage and plenty of ketchup.
Enough to make six complete hotdogs.
Please note: Tomato ketchup, mustard and other additional toppings are not included in the set. You will also need a small, sharp kitchen knife to shape the sausages.
Cook It Like a Pro
Make Your Own Halloween Bloody Fingers
Preparation: approximately 10–15 minutes
Reheating: approximately 5–8 minutes
Makes: 6 hotdogs
A few careful knife cuts, a warm frying pan and a generous spoonful of ketchup are all it takes to transform these classic hotdogs into a Halloween favourite.
Step 1. Carve the Sausage Fingers
The trick is to keep the details simple. A small recessed fingernail and a few shallow knuckle lines are enough. There is no need for almonds, artificial nails or extra decorations.
| 1) | Remove the six fully cooked sausages from their packaging while still cold. Pat them dry with kitchen paper if necessary. |
| 2) | Choose one end of each sausage to become the fingertip. With a small, sharp knife, carefully score a shallow rectangle with rounded corners into the surface of the sausage. |
| 3) | Gently remove the thin outer layer of sausage inside the rectangle, creating a slightly recessed fingernail shape. Keep the cut shallow so the sausage stays intact. |
| 4) | A little farther down the sausage, make two or three short, shallow, parallel cuts to imitate the creases of a finger joint. Add another small set of lines farther down if desired. |
| 5) | Repeat with the remaining sausages. Slight variations in the cuts make the fingers look more natural. They are now ready for reheating. |
The fingernail is carved directly into the sausage itself, just like the knuckle creases. Simple, effective and surprisingly realistic.
Step 2. Reheat the Sausages in a Frying Pan
Our Frankfurter sausages are already fully cooked. Gentle reheating brings them to serving temperature while preserving their flavour and texture.
| 1) | Place a frying pan over medium-low heat and add a small amount of neutral cooking oil. |
| 2) | Arrange the carved sausages in the pan, leaving enough space to turn them easily. Keep the carved fingernails facing upwards initially. |
| 3) | Reheat gently for approximately 5–8 minutes, turning carefully from time to time until thoroughly hot. Avoid excessive heat, which can cause the casings to split or the carved details to become distorted. |
| 4) | Once heated through, remove the sausages from the pan and keep warm while preparing the buns. |
Step 3. Warm the Hotdog Buns
| 1) | Carefully open the six hotdog buns along their existing splits, keeping both sides connected. |
| 2) | Wipe the frying pan clean if necessary and return it to medium-low heat. Place the buns cut-side down in the dry pan. |
| 3) | Warm for approximately 1–2 minutes until lightly toasted on the inside. The buns should remain soft and fluffy on the outside, with a pleasantly warm centre. |
Step 4. Assemble Your Bloody Fingers
Now for the finishing touch. A generous helping of ketchup creates the Halloween effect without changing the familiar flavours of a classic hotdog.
| 1) | Place one warm sausage into each hotdog bun, with the carved fingernail facing upwards and positioned near one end. |
| 2) | Spoon a generous amount of tomato ketchup into each bun, underneath and alongside the sausage. |
| 3) | Add more ketchup around the base of the sausage and along the edges of the bun. Allow some to spill naturally over the sides for a realistic bloody-finger effect. |
| 4) | Keep the carved fingernail visible rather than covering it completely with ketchup. This makes the finger shape instantly recognisable. |
| 5) | Arrange the finished hotdogs on a serving platter. Add a little extra ketchup around the sausage ends for a suitably messy Halloween presentation. Serve immediately. |
Serve It With
Bloody Finger Hotdogs make a fun centrepiece for a relaxed Halloween dinner. Serve alongside crispy oven fries, roasted potato wedges or a simple green salad.
For a family activity, prepare the sausages and warm the buns ahead of assembly, then let everyone create their own bloody-finger hotdog. Adults can handle the carving and frying, while children take care of the ketchup.
A few clever cuts, a little imagination and a very generous helping of ketchup. Spooky to look at. Delicious to eat.
