Parmigiano Reggiano is the King of Parmesans, one of Italy's finest products. For a cheese to be called as Parmesan, it has to be produced from cows grazing on fresh grass and hay. Parmigiano Reggiano cheese is named after the provinces in which it is made, in Parma, Reggio Emilia, Modena, Bologna and Mantua in Italy. With its rich, nutty taste and distinctive aroma, Parmigiano Reggiano is used by the finest chefs and can be prepared in various ways. Grate, shred or shave it on pasta, salads, vegetables or fruits. The white calcium spots give the cheese its crunchy bite, making it an irresistible delicacy eaten on its own. The cheese is high in calcium, and low in fat and hence very healthy.
